Happy Gratitude!

Have you ever stopped to think about how great God is and how He still loves us, even when we are such complaining sinners? God is faithful, almighty, loving, holy, Creator, redeemer, Bridegroom, omnipotent… Wow, I could just keep going! Let’s stop and think about the amazing greatness of God today.

“…Giving thanks always for all things unto God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:20

I am thankful for…

Songs to sing to Jesus – there are so many!

Great conversations with extended family.

Inspiring and convicting sermons.

I don’t have to worry about if we’ll have the next meal, I just ask what we’ll have.

My nice old Bible with really neat cross references.

Gratitude… Anti Anxiety!

I found this when I looked for pictures and I just love it because it is SO true! When we focus on Who God is and all He has done for us and all His people through Jesus, we just can’t help being thankful! I once heard of a lady who said she has never been depressed because whenever she is feeling down or “blue” she starts quoting Psalm 103 to herself. Such a wonderful habit!

But now for the gratitude part of this post.

  • I am thankful for two mission trips I was able to be a part of. My life is truly changed because of the interaction and fellowship I was able to have in a different culture and to be mutually blessed with Christ as our focus.
  • I thank God for color; how dull would our world be without it!
  • I am grateful for the book Unveiled At Last that I just finished, which explains what God’s plan is from Genesis to Revelation. I am still digesting all the new (sort of?) information that is in it. He has such a way of pointing out obvious truths that you should know but often miss. I was inspired to live fully for God – He is SO worthy!
  • I am grateful for my brother’s birthday and all the fun we are able to have together. His excitement is so much fun!
  • I am thankful for my Bibles – so many don’t have even one, and I have several. I want so much for others to have them in their language and even though it is illegal in their country.

I would love to hear what you are thankful for!

Grateful… Day 2

gratitude-game-instructions-6-1024x1024

I am grateful to God for all members of my family: my Mom, Dad, sisters, brother and brother-in law.

I am thankful for Calvary, where Jesus Christ took my sin upon Himself so I could have a restored relationship with my Creator.

I am grateful for homemade Macaroni and Cheese!

I am thankful for my watch.

I am praise God for the gift of a healthy body, especially that I can walk, and for the sense of sight. It’s amazing how you become thankful when something is temporarily taken! I injured my foot and had a tough time remembering I couldn’t walk on it. 🙂

How about you? What are you thankful for?

Happy November!

Happy Thanksgiving Month!

We have so much to be thankful for, and since I am taking a Gratitude Challenge with Revive Our Hearts, I thought I would post something at least weekly about what I am thankful for. I hope I can do it almost daily, but you never know. 🙂 Life is busy!

I would love if you could join me in this “challenge” by leaving a comment of some things YOU are thankful for!

I just love the holiday of Thanksgiving, because it is a  chance to get together with family and talk about all there is to thank the Lord for. It’s a great witnessing opportunity to the unsaved, and great fellowship for the believers. And most importantly, it is a praise to God!

So here are some the things I am grateful for.

  • Pictures off the internet that make blogs pretty!
  • My little brother who makes me laugh
  • A God Who loves us enough to create humor
  • The opportunity to share God’s love and plan of salvation to others
  • Uplifting and inspiring Christian books

There’s a start! I have so many more, but I’ll save that for another day. Be back for more tomorrow!

Have a blessed and gratitude-charged day!

Art

It has been awhile since I posted anything! I have been very busy with summer activity, farms being the busiest in warm weather.

With summer comes the fair, and I was thrilled to enter two paintings at our local fair. I was blessed to win two blue ribbons!

Week of July 23 009 (Large)

One of them was done for a cousin, which is why it is covered with everything else. I want to keep it mostly a surprise!

I am also desiring to sell a couple paintings, so if you are interested or know someone who might be, please share this information with them.

Tithe our money… and time?

Eight years ago, I made a new year’s resolution. I was 11 years old, and I had believed in Jesus two years before. I decided it was high time I began to read the Bible every single day to see what the Lord had to say to those who follow Him. So I did, and I have never looked back with regret on that decision. I am so blessed by God’s prompting on my young heart.

On Tuesday I listened to the radio program of Revive Our Hearts. Nancy’s guest was her brother Mark Demoss. I have heard him before, and even have one of his books. He is so practical and biblical, which I appreciate.

His subject was having wisdom for daily life. He talked about setting priorities, like putting God first by setting aside the first part of your day to spend time with Him. But then he also said that we tithe our first day of the week: the Lord’s day, and the Bible talks about tithing our  first fruits, which most people say is our money. Nowadays, it is, because not all of us are farmers, so we don’t have a crop to give to God. However, I have heard of some in our farming community giving a tenth of their produce to the church family, and I think that is wonderful.

This all got me to thinking; are we to tithe our time? What really got me thinking about it was when Mom mentioned the subject and said she was wondering about it as well. I figured out that since I am awake for 15 hours every day, a tenth of that is 90 minutes. Those 90 minutes could be spent reading God’s Word, praying, studying a book that explains the Bible, praising the Lord in word and deed, or serving God in some capacity.

Now I know many people struggle to find a spare ten minutes to read the Bible. And I’m not saying that you must give a tenth of your time to God or else! Certainly not! I am just saying that if we are serious with God about how grateful we are for His salvation of our souls and His guidance of our lives, should we not desire to spend as much time with Him as we can?

I am blessed by my situation right now. I am single, I am not in school, and I do not have a paying job. I am also “forced” to study the Bible to prepare for the Good News Club lessons I help teach. I love that I have the time and capability to do all this. I have begun reading two chapters of the Old Testament, 2 chapters of the New Testament, one Psalm and one Proverb every day, which is great, because it gives a bunch of variety! (And yes, I know it’s a little early to begin a new year’s resolution. Oh, well!)

So all that to say, I would love to see every believer begin to spend at least a portion of each day in the Word and in prayer. Just think how many wonderful changes the Lord will grant in your attitudes, mind, and heart! I have been so blessed by eight full years of daily reading God’s Letter to us – the Bible. You will be blessed, too. Let’s join our hearts in a commitment to God!

I would love to hear about what your new year’s resolutions are, especially as they pertain to this issue of Bible reading and being dedicated to God. May God bless you, every one!
